When I learned that the original developer had open-sourced the Caffeine code for everybody to reuse and enjoy, I decided to rescue the beloved app while keeping its simplicity.Caffeinated prevents your Mac from going to sleep, dimming your screen or starting the screensaver. I was a Caffeine user myself, so I can understand the frustration others write about in their reviews. The original Caffeine app was last updated in 2010, and because of that, it fell victim to “software rot”-it’s when the app gets too old and no longer works properly with modern macOS versions. So I tried out Caffiene again on this new MBP and it works just like it has always worked and it's just a click of the icon. I never write reviews btw but I felt compelled to do so as I tried out a similar app based on one of those negative reviews and that app was so complicated. I don't understand the bad review or why reviewers of other similar apps are posting negative reviews of caffiene. Easy to use software solution that can prevent your Mac from going to sleep.
